*Trouble Shooter Guide for NO-COMPRESSION Chinese Engines VIEW ALL CHINESE ATV SERVICE MANUALS Chinese Engine Tips and Tricks from our shop. When we go to try and start a Chinese Engine on a kids ATV that looks like it has been through every kid on the block and it just will not start and we know it has spark and fuel, here is what we do. Actually we do this before messing with Carbs or Spark. After numerous attempts by some of our NEW shop guys to make a little engine run by changing carbs and charging batteries etc... Come to find out the little engine did not have any compression. Thats why we do this first before diving into a repair job. This trick works on electric start 50cc-125cc engines. We pull the spark plug because we are going to check for spark. We ALSO will hold our thumb or finger on the spark plug hole to seal it and have someone crank the engine. OUR RULE OF THUMB (pun intended) is IF YOUR FINGER IS PUSHED OFF THE SPARK PLUG HOLE----- THERE IS USUALLY ENOUGH COMPRESSION FOR THE ENGINE TO RUN. Thats it, simple easy and no compression gauge is needed. |
